what to wear?

Hey y’all,

Sorry I’ve been gone the past couple of days – it has been busy! Tuesday night Collin and I were at our friends house all night for dinner and some games. We ended up staying really late and had a lot of fun out there! Then yesterday I finally got some quality time at the pool, a great workout, and Collin made us an AMAZING dinner.

So today, after I woke up I had to sit in on a magazine interview for work and run a few errands. I’m finally back in for the day!

I’m starting to really think about my cousins’ wedding I’ll be attending in a couple of weeks. I was talking to my mom the other day about what we should wear because it isn’t your typical wedding. It’s being held in the Stockyards and seems like it will be more casual than most. Initially I thought a maxi-dress would be super adorable – but my mom and I are both VERY short!

I’ve actually never worn a maxi-dress because of how short I am, but I would love to try it! Here are some of my favorites from Nordstrom that I think might work for us short people for the season:

Fire Bustier Maxi Dress (Juniors)

Splendid Stripe Faux Wrap Maxi Dress

Fire Strapless Print Chiffon Maxi Dress (Juniors) (Online Only)

These all have defined waistlines that would help from the dreaded no-leg image.

What do you think about maxi-dresses and height?

Flashback Friday

I have noticed A LOT of leather on the runways lately and have seen leather products filling up clothing stores. It feels like I’m back in the 90’s with the leather pants trend!

One thing I actually just noticed today really blowing up the retail world is leather summer dresses – and it definitely caught my eye.

Here are a few adorable leather dress finds of mine..

What do YOU think about the trend? Will you be buying in this summer season?

You can take the girl out of TX…

The last few days my boyfriend got off work so we got to go to TEXAS – my home, sweet home. I fully believe that you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas out of the girl.

I was SO happy we got to see my wonderful parents right after Mother’s Day and my best friend from high school had her 21st birthday. But before I get to my trip…

As promised, I took advantage of the sunny, warm weather.

After getting some much needed sun, I had to run some errands and pack for our last-minute trip. Early Tuesday morning we drove on down to Texas and immediately began the birthday celebrations!

We had a lot of fun that night swimming, going out to dinner, and playing games. Wednesday Collin (my boyfriend) and I enjoyed spending time with my parents and relaxing.

This morning we headed back with our ADORABLE kitty…

It’s almost swim season!

It’s almost my favorite time of the year…SUMMER!

The pool at my apartment complex isn’t opening til the last week of may (LAME, by the way) but that won’t stop me from laying out. The forecast is warm and sunny tomorrow and I can assure you I’ll be by the pool all day!

So in honor of how excited I am for this time of year, I’ll be sharing my favorite swimsuits that I’m dying to get!

These are from my absolute FAVORITE store to get swimsuits – Victoria’s Secret.

Where are your favorite places to shop for swimsuits?

MET Gala.. The good, the bad, the ugly..

I’m back fellow bloggers! Things got EXTREMELY crazy with finals for school… but IT’S SUMMER!! I’m finally taking a break before my last year of college and looking forward to enjoying this much needed time off.

And for my first post back, we’re taking a look at some Met Gala outfits.

This year, the theme was “Punk: Chaos to Couture.” Honestly, I love the idea. It is the perfect theme to get some high-couture unique outfits with personal twists. Here are my favorites:

Anne Hathaway

In Valentino, Anne Hathaway stood out to me in a floor-length dress that was stunning. It was extremely flattering and although “punk,” still classy.

Jennifer Lawrence

To be completely honest, I’m not a Jennifer Lawrence fan. That being said, I am obsessed with this Dior dress. It’s something completely classy and something that us normal people could wear to any fancy event.

Miranda Kerr

GORGEOUS. She was by far the best dressed of the night, in my opinion. The cut-out dress trend is one of my favorites for this season and this Michael Kors dress was very flattering on her. Love.

And here were the worst dressed of the night:

Kristen Stewart

This outfit was not flattering at all, and had more of an oriental feel than a punk feel, in my opinion. And this slicked back hair trend.. am I the only one not understanding it? Pretty color – I’ll give her that.

Kim Kardashian

Of course, this picture has been EVERYWHERE so this isn’t anything new. The pattern is very overwhelming on her. If it was a solid color, the dress itself wouldn’t have been horrible – but it’s just too much. Her makeup is gorgeous, though, and the print on the shoes is adorbs.

And for the most SHOCKING outfit of the night…

Madonna

I honestly don’t even know what to say about this outfit. She’s on point with the punk theme, but my goodness. It is Madonna though..so are we really surprised?

The Met Gala brought outrages outfits to the red carpet, and I was loving it.

What were your favorite/least favorite outfits from the Met Gala?

…I work out.

So, I’m kind of in a workout rut. I work out about 4 or 5 days a week and do 20 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of weights, approx, each day. If I do just cardio, I’ll do 45-60 minutes. BUT… I’m Bored.

In Texas, I worked out at Golds Gym, and they offered Les Mills classes. Everyday I would do a couple of classes and I was OBSESSED. Cycling is by far my favorite with kickboxing being a close second. Sadly, my gym now doesn’t offer any classes so I’m stuck with a routine of the same 4 cardio machines.

I would love to hear some suggestions. What workouts are your favorites?

But, what can make a workout better? GOOD CLOTHES! I’m obsessed with Victoria’s Secret workout gear, and I literally wear their yoga capris every single day. Here are some of my faves.

Disclaimer: I did not take these photos! I just like them 🙂

Let me know about y’alls favorite workouts and your favorite ways to lose those last 5 stubborn pounds!

New york, new york!

Trip post, cont!

Last Sunday Collin and I took the AMTRAK from D.C. into NYC then went straight to check in to our hotel room. We stayed only 3 or 4 blocks from Times Square, so that was great. We went out and walked down to Times Square and Broadway then ate dinner at Guy Fierri’s restaurant. It was really good! We walked to 5th avenue and saw Rockefeller Center, the Lego factory, and the apple store. Amazing!

Then, Monday, we spent the day REALLY exploring Times Square and shopping on 5th avenue. We also went to Central Park then rushed to wait in line at the TKTS booth for discounted broadway tickets! We waited in 20 degree weather for a couple of hours until tickets finally went on sale. We scored 6th row seats for Rock of Ages at 30% off! And that was the BEST live musical I have EVER seen! I would definitely recommend it. We also went to eat dinner at Gallagher’s steakhouse and OMG – TO DIE FOR! I got the salmon steak and Collin got a ribeye with a bottle of wine. It was honestly the best salmon I have ever had. And after the show, we saw Tom Hanks leaving his musical across the street. So cool! It was also snowing that entire night – and walking around New York in 6 inch heels in the snow is NOT fun.

Tuesday, we took the subway down to Wall Street and explored that side of the island. We started by getting some lunch at a little shop and then went to the 9/11 museum and memorial. I was in 4th grade at the time of 9/11 and it was really moving to see everything – since I wasn’t exactly old enough to understand what was going on at the time. We walked down to wall street from there and saw the NYSE building. We then walked to the pier and saw the statue of liberty. After that, we were a little tired, and headed back to the hotel to get ready for our night.

Our last night in NYC, we decided to go to Caroline’s Broadway Comedy Club for their late night show. It was hilarious! And, of course, we were the ONLY people who made reservations to eat dinner there so we got the best seat in the house. We picked the second row of tables so we wouldn’t get heckled or put on the spot (we’re shy like that) but it was front and center. The comedians were great!

Wednesday we took a car to Laguardia Airport and flew back to Texas to spend a few nights with my parents. I always LOVE going to Texas – you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas out of the girl! We got to really relax and get Indian food with my parents (there is NO Indian food in Arkansas)!
